A1 is the first of the six CEFR levels. It is basic German for simple, everyday situations, and it starts from zero.

The A1 syllabus follows Yastudy's own German A1 course book: 12 lessons in 40 hours of live class, each ending with a task from the Goethe A1 exam.
You practise all four skills in every topic: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Vocabulary follows the official Goethe A1 word list.
The German A1 exam most students take is the Goethe-Zertifikat A1, also called Start Deutsch 1. It tests four skills in about 80 minutes.

60 of 100 points. The written parts carry 75 points and speaking carries 25.
₹9,400 including GST. The exam fee is paid to the exam centre when you book. It is not part of the course fee.
You book online on the Goethe-Institut India website. A valid passport is the only ID accepted at the exam.
You see your result in your Mein Goethe.de account. The exam invitation tells you when.
The Goethe-Institut India says its certificates are valid indefinitely. Ask the embassy, employer or school that will receive yours how recent it must be.
You can repeat the A1 exam as often as you need. It is repeated as a whole exam.

telc A1 exam: telc Deutsch A1 (Start Deutsch 1) tests the same four skills: listening for about 20 minutes, reading and writing for 45 minutes, and speaking for about 15 minutes in a small group.

40 hours of class in about 3 weeks, plus about 2 hours of your own practice on each class day.
Batches of 10 to 12. The A1 speaking exam is taken in a group, so you practise speaking in front of others from the first week.
Every class is recorded, and you can send your doubts on WhatsApp between classes.
So the A1 exam pattern is familiar before exam day.
Take A1 on its own, or as part of a combo that costs less than paying level by level. The fee is the same for every student.
40 hours of live class. The right choice if A1 is all you need, for example for a spouse visa.
A1, A2 and B1, 190 hours. Paid level by level this is ₹50,000, so you save ₹20,500.
All four levels, 310 hours. Paid level by level this is ₹74,000, so you save ₹34,500. Includes a Germany roadmap session and admission or Ausbildung guidance.
These are the usual requirements. Some employers, schools and German states ask for more, so check the official page for your case.
German A1 or English B2 is the minimum language level for the points route.
The German Missions in India ask for proof of A1 German in most cases, with a certificate from the Goethe-Institut, telc or ÖSD.
You need at least A1 German, and you must be at least 18 and under 27 when you apply.
